Computational fluid dynamics simulations of an innovative thermal engine

Fluid dynamics simulations of an innovative thermal engine are performed to evaluate fluid pressures within the domain, by imposing rotor motion. Comparative analysis are performed to determine how these pressures change as the speed of rotation of the rotor varies.

The results show that varying the rotor velocity, the maximum and minimum values of pressure remain the same; moreover, all the pressure curves show two initial peaks follow by a stationary phase (absent in case of the rotation is too high).

Goal: Set-up of a computational fluid dynamics analysis to determine the flux characteristic inside a thermal engine, given different boundary conditions

Methods: CAD cleaning and repairing, finite volume analysis and computational tools

Results: Varying the rotor velocity, the results in terms of pressures within the domain do not seem to vary significantly
