Analysis of the performances of a Screw Pump
Thermo-fluid-mechanical simulations are performed to reproduce the operational conditions of a screw pump, assessing its efficiency in handling different fluids and capturing the associated heat-exchange phenomena. The problem arises from the pump’s inability to properly heat-up fluids during operation, which compromises performance and reliability.
By developing an optimized numerical model, we are able to simulate highly complex multi-physics interactions (fluid dynamics and thermal transfer) within a reasonable computational time (few hours instead of several days).
Goal: Heathen-up different fluids in the screw up and reduce the computational time
Methods: CAD cleaning and repairing, finite volume analysis and computational tools
Results: Development of an optimized numerical model able to solve very complex systems within reasonable time (i.e., few hours instead of several days or week).
